In Deciduous Duos, you can exchange your own trees 2:1 for your partner's, and plant their trees on your turn as if you were them.
This adds a new layer of strategy as you consider carefully when it's worth it to sacrifice efficiency to make a strategic tradeoff, to plant as your partner to capture a critical area, or make a pivotal move on an important turn.
