Viva la QueerBar is a slice-of-life narrative game about a queer bar (or queer cafe) and the team that runs it. It's a game about the joys and struggles that come with being part of a queer community.

Whether it's a medieval fantasy tavern, a cyberpunk underground club, a real-world queer bar in a historical setting, an intergalactic queer bar on a spaceship, or whatever else you can think of - the QueerBar lives where you want it to.

All you need to play is this zine, a standard deck of playing cards (52 cards), and 1-5 people to play with you. No preparation necessary - just start playing!

Viva la QueerBar is great for complete roleplaying newbies and equally great for experienced roleplayers. It welcomes players of all genders and orientations who are willing to take on the perspective of a queer character for the duration of the game. Because it's more narrative than roleplaying, however, you'll spend more time describing your character's thoughts, feelings, and actions than directly acting out your character.

Viva la QueerBar is a standalone role-playing game for 2-6 players (no game master), conveniently packed into a handy zine and perfect for one-shots with 2-4 hours of playing time and no preparation required.

The rules of this Descended from the Queen storytelling game are very simple: At the beginning, you read the short instructions together. The consensus and safety mechanics we suggest are already built in. During this preparation, you also choose the general setting of your QueerBar.

Then the core of the game begins: You take turns drawing a playing card and look in the tables to see which of the questions belongs to it. As the game progresses, your answers to the questions will give rise to your individual QueerBar, your main characters, some supporting characters and details about the QueerBar's surroundings.

At the end, all the main characters answer the question: What is your most important wish for the future of the QueerBar?

Thanks to the random selection and order of questions (you'll usually use about half of them in a 3-hour game) and the immense variety of possible settings, you can play Viva la QueerBar over and over again and have a different experience each time.

The core rulebook contains everything you need to play.
